Sex Offender Registry Unit

When I took office, one of my early initiatives was to set up a Sex Offender Registration office in Portsmouth in cooperation with the Virginia State Police. This helps the State Police, but more importantly, it makes the Registry more accessible, increases community education and awareness, thus adding to the safety of Portsmouth's citizens.

Convicted sex offender's all across the United States must register, re-register at regular intervals, and must keep in contact with law enforcement concerning their whereabouts, vehicle ownership, employment, internet use, and other important data. Most of this information is posted on the internet.
